Not the same CD showed in Picture November 4, 2009 N. Wallace (Washington, DC) The insert is not the same insert that is advertised in the CD description. I did not recieve the origional "Off the Wall" CD. Very dissapointed.
Jackson's Sensational Epic Debut Has Just Gotten Even Better! August 21, 2009 Frederick Baptist (Singapore) This has to be one of Michael Jackson's top 3 all-time greatest albums. Before Michael became strange this album captures what the "King of Pop" is best at: Pop/R&B. Carefully chosen tracks from proven songwriters (Carole Bayer Sager, Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney)and a few tracks of his own added to a brilliant producer are all the ingredients of a great album.
Now, this disc has also been remastered par excellence and been given the mini-lp replica sleeve design (mlps) gatefold treatment! I have never heard such a great sounding remastering job in my life and believe me I've heard too many pretenders and alleged remastering jobs that even sound worse than the pre-remastered version. This mlps version is very well designed and assembled from very good thick quality cardboard that is built to last. There is a fold out track listing with an essay in Japanese as well as a 20-page booklet with all the lyrics in both English and Japanese.
The best tracks are the title track, "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough", and my favourite "Rock With You" but the other tracks, written by great hall-of-fame songwriters are great too and make the whole package cohesive and overall just a great album.
For the diehard fan, there are even bonus outtakes and interviews with Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton although personally I feel they should have either left this out or put it on a separate disc but I guess I can always stop the disc after "Burn This Disco Out."
This is probably the best version of this album that's out there and is highly recommended for all MJ fans out there.
Michael Jackson ... OFF THE WALL (1979) June 28, 2009 Chad DeFeo (Philadelphia, PA.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though, Michael began his solo career in 1972 with his first-ever album entitled, GOT TO BE THERE, to me, his solo career took a turn for the even-better when he released, OFF THE WALL, his sixth solo album, in 1979. OFF THE WALL is a great album with many great songs featured.
"DON'T STOP 'TIL YOU GET ENOUGH"
The first single from the album. I never really cared too much for this song when I was a kid, but I find this song to be growing on me.
"ROCK WITH YOU"
The second single from the album. This was always one of my favorite songs from MJ. The outfit he wore in this song's music video had to have been one of the coolest outfits he's ever worn.
"WORKING DAY AND NIGHT"
This was another favorite song of mine, ever since I was a kid. I remember hearing this song for the first time on MJ's "The Making of 'Thriller'" video. How I wish the song was released as a single. It could done really well on the charts, in my opinion.
"GET ON THE FLOOR"
A great tune.
"OFF THE WALL"
The third single from the album. Another great song. I could listen to this song 24 / 7.
"GIRLFRIEND"
The fifth single from the album. This song was originally recorded by Paul McCartney, who, by the way, had originally written this song with Michael Jackson in mind, then decided to keep this song for himself. Michael then covered this song for this album. Great song.
"SHE'S OUT OF MY LIFE"
The fourth single from the album. This is such a beautiful song, though, at the same time, very sad. Another song that I could listen to 24 / 7.
"I CAN'T HELP IT"
Great song.
"IT'S THE FALLING IN LOVE" (performed by Michael Jackson & Patti Austin)
Great duet.
"BURN THIS DISCO OUT"
A great song to end this great album.
Growing up in throughout the late '80s and throughout the '90s, I had always been a fan of Michael Jackson's. Now, that Michael has sadly passed on, leaving us with his incredible music and memory, I feel like an even bigger fan than I already was. As much as I love his music, I have no idea how I, as do the rest of us, am gonna listen any of his songs without feeling heartbroken over his untimely death. This album, among his many others, will help us to remember Michael as one of the greatest singers and dancers of all time.
My Favorite album! March 18, 2009 RJ (rjmusic) This is def. my favorite album from Michael jackson. Off the Wall is cool. Don't stop till you get enough is one of my favorite Mj songs! Rock with you is an excellent dance track. Burn this disco out is interesting. I think this a great example of disco funk, and it was made during that time. So anybody who's a fan of funk/ r & b is def.gonna love this cd. This def. one of the best albums made of all time. His video and image for this album is really simple by today's standards, but is great in some ways because it doesn't outdate itself. The videos are pretty cool as well. Go out and buy it! This CD is awesome.
Restore the original artwork featuring Michael's face and afro November 17, 2008 T. Curry (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Originally written November 2008: As a tribute to Michael Jackson, I only wish that [Michael Jackson,] Epic/Sony would release this album with the original artwork featuring Michael Jackson's face [(when he was black and before his nose surgeries)] and his nice afro. I fortunately bought this CD in 1991 which featured the original artwork of a handsome young man and may he rest in peace. [It is just a shame what has happened to his appearance.]
